I've been getting back into the spirit of giving away writing for free. Which probably means that the summer heat has been getting to me. All the same, feel free to take advantage of the temporary insanity.

What Is A Gonzomentary?

A Gonzomentary is a film or video that combines objectivity with pre-scripted fictitious events, or that creates fictitious characters but presents them through outside media as realistic in order to obscure a distinction between reality and fiction within the story.

Gonzomentary is a marriage of two words:

CLARK!

Gonzo, a type of subjective journalism that favors style over fact to achieve accuracy and often uses personal experiences and emotions to provide context for the topic or event being covered.
The word Gonzo was first used in 1970 to describe an article by Hunter S. Thompson, who later popularized the style. The term has since been applied to other subjective artistic endeavors.
Mockumentary is a type of film or television show in which fictitious events are presented in documentary format.

Plus, it sounds better than Gonzo Mocko. Or uh. Mockugonzoism. Because then there will be Post-Mockugonzoism. And that's just stupid.

Nevertheless, this means that a “Gonzomentary” is something so convoluted that it’s almost sometimes nearly impossible to even describe what it may or may not be maybe without inventing a new language for the purpose of translating it from another alien language which only surviving Atlanteans can interpret into English (but must first learn English) then unfortunately losing the original concept in translation. The only way you can experience it fully is to buy products from us. 


Or at least watch some of the initial episodes, supposing you have an attention span that's greater than a goldfish or small rodent. Here's the pilot:

It is worldwide in scope and will be realized on August 23, 2011, when 200 downloads will be made available for those to make their own official versions of said album (in any way you see fit)... there will be bonus material, such as a video made by Z (me) as Thee Uncondemning Monk. Here are a list of links in regards to this project, we have been working hard to promote this in college radio and underground outlet from Discogs to ColdStone (in the UK), to Binghamton University, NY and to many other NY State Collage radio stations, and that is just my promoting of the album... there is at least 15 people that made this work a reality.

If you review music and would like to do a review of the album, please let us know. I would not mind an interview, and would spread the word to other on the album, also if you would like to DJ the album, give it airplay, we have a special section for that, and I can email that information to those who would be serious in giving this work some air-play, even if a shoutcast station...

Now the actors within the show get their chance to speak on what the experience was like. Merry Media-Mas You Cheap Bastards

Fucking lunacy.

For a very limited time, you can download a 1.2 GIGABYTE archive containing madness of almost Lovecraftian proportions. This includes selections of music and podcasts produced over the past 10 years, occult weirdness, conversations, audiobook episodes, as well as a few tidbits I've yet to put out publicly. There is also a smaller selection of documents, and many clues and portents of work to come.

Every year, I like to clean out what came before and plan a bit for the year ahead. This coming year I have a lot of exciting projects waiting in the wings which draw on all of my past experience, but also supersede it.  I feel like I'm putting many thing behind me, erasing the past and trying to build a mythology anew-- and it's maybe not entirely coincidental that this represents breadcrumbs along a decade of collaboration and production, as this decade comes to a close (in my book, 2010, not 2009.) It's like an aethyric spork that I'm digging into my innards to clear out room for more innards. Except...nothing at all like that, thank God. But if you put these tracks in your iPod I promise you'll get an erection that'll last at least seven days or your money back! (Male, female. Doesn't matter.)

Amidst all of the turmoil that has occurred both in the US and abroad in 2008, many of the media giants are stomping around blindly. There is no better time for truly independent groups of artists, musicians and myth makers to band together to collaborate, share and grow their myths. This is why Mythos Media formed in 2006-2007, and it remains our singular goal. The time is ripe now, but we need to meet each other halfway.

The purpose of this message is to alert you to what we have been doing over this past year, and what we look to create in 2009. The days of purely passive media are through. Sure, everyone likes to unwind and watch a movie from time to time, but always existing in that state of consumption leaves people shut-down, and isolated. This is why social media is exploding, even if major corporations are trying to turn the Internet into an ad-laden, vapid wasteland.

We all need stories that we can participate in, and a framework for us to collaborate and create work together. This is our goal moving forward- not only building our own myths but creating a sandbox for you to build your own as well. We believe static media like books and DVDs are merely entrance points into interactivity, collaboration, and the creation of new myths in the future, using technologies that are still being refined even as we speak.
